Pre-Treatment
Advice

I’m excited to welcome you to Cullinan Clinic for your Lip Blush treatment. This procedure is designed to enhance your natural beauty with soft, balanced colour and long-lasting results. To achieve the best possible outcome and a smooth healing process, please take a moment to read and follow the guidance below before your appointment.

Please avoid the following before your treatment

  • Aspirin or Ibuprofen — do not take for at least 48 hours before your appointment, as these may increase the risk of bruising and bleeding. If you are taking these medications under medical advice, please do not stop without consulting your GP.

  • Alcohol and caffeine — avoid for 24 hours prior to your session. These can increase sensitivity and the chance of swelling.

  • Sunbeds, tanning, or excessive sun exposure — avoid for two weeks before your treatment. Your lips must be healthy, not sunburned or peeling.

  • Lip scrubs, chemical peels, or waxing around the lip area — refrain for two weeks prior to your appointment.

  • Retinol, tretinoin, AHA, or BHA acids — stop using these in your skincare at least two weeks before treatment, as they can compromise the skin and increase the risk of irritation or delayed healing.

  • Lip fillers — should be carried out at least two weeks prior to your lip blush appointment.

To prepare effectively

  • Drink plenty of water to keep your lips well hydrated and soft, which helps with pigment retention.

  • If you are prone to cold sores, please consult your GP and begin a prescribed course of antiviral medication (such as Acyclovir) on the morning of your appointment. A typical dose is 200 mg twice daily for five days. While permanent makeup does not cause cold sores, it can trigger outbreaks if the Herpes Simplex Virus is present in the body.

  • Eat a light snack before your session to help you feel comfortable and relaxed.

  • Trust the process and come with confidence. I’ll create beautiful, natural-looking results tailored uniquely to you.

A note for clients with melanin-rich or hyperpigmented lips

Lip blush is not always suitable for darker lip tones. In some cases, a specialised Melanin-Rich Lip Neutralisation treatment may be needed before lip blush can be performed. Please note that I do not offer this treatment at Cullinan Clinic. If you are unsure whether lip blush is suitable for you, feel free to send a clear photo of your lips before booking. I will be happy to guide you.

“I look forward to creating
something beautiful for you.”
